Martin County
Commercial painting in every part of Martin County
Martin County has five municipalities and a large unincorporated area, and the color rules change at their borders. The county code covers most of the map, with tighter standards in its six redevelopment areas. Here is what applies where.

- StuartStuart writes its paint rules into the code. In the Urban Code District, exterior walls are held to muted pastel or earth-toned shades, black or fluorescent may not be the main color, and the city development director approves exterior colors. Trim may be any color, and a wall mural needs its own approval.Commercial painting in Stuart →
- Palm CityPalm City has no town hall of its own, so the Martin County Building Department and Growth Management cover it. Inside the Old Palm City redevelopment area, around Martin Highway and Mapp Road, the county's Redevelopment Code bars black or fluorescent as the main exterior color on buildings over 450 square feet.Commercial painting in Palm City →
- Jensen BeachThe county code calls Jensen Beach a historic riverfront community that has long depended on tourism. Its redevelopment area, along Jensen Beach Boulevard, Indian River Drive and Pineapple Avenue, sits beside the Indian River Lagoon, so shopfronts, restaurants and inns there take lagoon air and wind on their east faces.Commercial painting in Jensen Beach →
- Hobe SoundHobe Sound's commercial strip follows SE Federal Highway, Dixie Highway and Bridge Road, inside one of the county's six redevelopment areas. The county code says it began as a pineapple plantation and aims to keep the character, quality and scale of historic Hobe Sound, so exterior changes there are read against that goal.Commercial painting in Hobe Sound →
- Port SalernoThe county code names Port Salerno for its working waterfront and the commercial fishing industry in the Manatee Pocket area. Fish houses, marine shops and restaurants by the docks take salt spray and splash from boat traffic, and their steel, block and wood wear at the waterline first.Commercial painting in Port Salerno →
- Hutchinson IslandOn Martin County's part of Hutchinson Island, the ocean is on one side and the Indian River Lagoon on the other. County regulations hold habitable buildings to four stories, so the oceanfront is mostly mid-rise condos and resorts, and their walls and rails take salt-laden wind all year.Commercial painting in Hutchinson Island →
- Jupiter IslandJupiter Island sets its own construction clock. From May 1 to October 31, weekday work runs 7:30 AM to 6 PM and Saturdays need the Town's permission; from November 1 to April 30, weekdays run 8:30 to 5:30 and Saturdays end at 1 PM. Some holidays are no-construction days.Commercial painting in Jupiter Island →
- Sewall's PointSewall's Point is mostly homes, but its code keeps a B-1 business district for the community's retail and service needs: stores, personal service shops, professional and business offices, and churches. Buildings there are held to 30 feet, so commercial painting in the town means small, low buildings.Commercial painting in Sewall's Point →
- IndiantownIndiantown's Building Division says plainly that painting, residential and commercial, needs no building permit, and neither does pressure washing. The same list allows stucco repair under 25 square feet without one. Larger repairs found during prep are a separate question for the Village.Commercial painting in Indiantown →
- Ocean BreezeOcean Breeze is a small town inside Jensen Beach with its own permit office. It posts separate building permit applications for Ocean Breeze Plaza, the Ocean Breeze Resort and Seawalk, takes applications by email, and keeps office hours Monday to Thursday, closed on Fridays.Commercial painting in Ocean Breeze →
- Unincorporated Martin CountyOutside the five municipalities, the Martin County Building Department lists painting among typical projects that need no permit. The design rules are where a repaint can matter: the county code says painting or cleaning that simply restores a building's previous look is not a substantial renovation of its exterior.Commercial painting in Unincorporated Martin County →
- RioThe county code describes Rio as a coastal community on the St. Lucie River with historically platted neighborhoods and established industries. Its working buildings along Dixie Highway and SR 707 sit close to the river, and their block and metal walls take its damp, salty air.Commercial painting in Rio →
- Golden GateHenry Sewall platted Golden Gate in 1911, and the county code still points to the historic Golden Gate Building and its mid-1920s Mediterranean Revival and Mission homes. Commercial storefronts line Dixie Highway and Indian Street, and stucco and tile from that era call for a careful hand.Commercial painting in Golden Gate →
